AZTEC SPRINGFIELD
INDOOR LEAGUE MATCH REPORTS
Monday 12th January - vs
Walkovers B
Aztec Springfield batted first, and although, lost opener Paul Robson
in the first over closely followed by younger Stuart Robson, recovered
to post a very healthy total of 161, which youngsters Peter Osmont scored
an excellent 47 not out, and was ably supported by Alex Cooke who retired
after scoring 25, and James Vallois, who made an invaluable 17, and
was unfortunately run out on the last ball of the over. However, Team
Aztec were ably assisted by their trusty Spanish friend mr E xtras,
who scored a valuable 40 wides, and 4 no balls, which was worth just
under an extra 4 overs to the team.
Walkovers didnt start too well, mainly thanks to the bowling of Alex
Cooke and James Vallois, who bowled extremely well to leave the Walkovers
chasing an even bigger run rate, after four overs with only 24 on the
board. They could have been one down, but plucky Paul Robson couldnt
quite master the art of stumping (initially). Osmont & Tristan Hanson
then bowled a very lively spell, which included a wicket maiden from
Tristan, and another wicket from Osmont who bowled the danger man Fosse.
Stuart Robson came on to partner Alex Cooke at the end, who also bowled
a wicket maiden, and Stu with his lively off/leg spin and took a wicket
in his final over, having the number 6 stumped by Paul Robson! Again,
another Robson Robson wicket! This is turning into a phenomenon.
The good news is, that a side which has regularly fielded 3 young members
of its squad is rising to the challenge of the division. The side proudly
sits top of the division, played six, won six. Promotion is a likely
prospect.
People are starting to take notice of this Springfield set up, and its
fantastic for the future. Lets keep it going all the way to the end
boys, and give the early season outdoors a real push. I've got a good
feeling about this season boys, and you all should too.
